The V61 Hub is a dream that was created during lockdown. It’s Vineyard 61’s brand new community space in Balham. For many of us the last year has been very isolating, and we’ve all been looking forward to opportunities for connection. That’s exactly what the Hub is all about! It’s a place to gather, to connect, and to belong. Everyone’s welcome!
We’re open from 11am-2pm every Monday and we do activities like bingo, arts and crafts, puzzles and games. There’s also good coffee, computers available if you need to search for a job, and plenty of time and space to chat and make friends. Over the last few weeks people have brought delicious homemade bakes too! There’s opportunities to ask for prayer if you’d like – and a few weeks ago one man gave his life to Jesus with a couple of our team!
We love empowering people who come along to lead. Someone’s neighbour came along for the first time one week, and the next week led everyone in a card-making session. She said it was the first time she’d ever been given permission to lead anything. The dream for the Hub is that there would be no division between ‘volunteers’ and ‘users’. We want it to be a gathering place where people come as they are and connect into community, whether you’re retired, a new mum, you live alone, you’re zoomed out from work, or you’d just like a friend to eat your lunch. We love the Hub and are excited for how God is going to use it to build community in Balham.
