We’re now in December, and are just loving hearing so many stories about how Vineyard churches are stepping up in generosity during this festive period. Vix from Vineyard Bath, let us know about a project they started last year in COVID, that has now become an annual thing!
Last year at The Nest Project, a compassion project run by Vineyard Bath, we realised that during COVID, Overseas Christmas Box Appeals weren’t able to operate. We decided instead to do one for our local community, and we were overwhelmed by the response. So it’s now become a yearly appeal!
We ask for donations of a filled box or gift bag for various age groups with a mix of practical and treat items… it’s a bit like a stocking. Families in Bath love getting involved, and especially love including their children as they do it – it’s a brilliant lesson in giving to others. These gifts go out via local agencies and charities who are working with the most vulnerable families in our community. This year so far we have had over 300 boxes donated! We are privileged to be the hands and feet of Jesus at what can be a difficult time of year for many, and we love hearing the stories that come back!
