Song Story

I was singing and worshipping God at my piano one day, and I felt this image come into my mind of a path to a doorway, and I felt God was showing me that this doorway was into his heart, and that there was always an adventure to find when we go deeper into who he is and deeper into his presence. So I wrote the words to try and describe that image and feeling that I had! Then the second part of the song came as I was thinking about how we get to know God better; it’s because he calls us and draws us in, and we can say yes to that invitation.

“Through the testing, through the blessing” is one of my favourite parts of the song, because it begins to explore the idea that we will have times where seeking God is hard and tests us. This is sometimes hard to accept when we first feel the invitation, but the blessing always comes after times of testing, we will always come through the difficulty when we set our hearts on God.
