Our Spiritual Formation team exists to provide training and resource for Soul Care and Spiritual Direction within the movement.

Spiritual Formation

We believe that God by his Spirit dwells within each of his children. It is our understanding that as we grow as Christian believers we can both increase our experience of his presence within us and over the course of our life develop deeply our relationship with God. This is what we call ‘spiritual formation’, growing to be like Jesus, by the power of his Holy Spirit, to the glory of God the Father.

Spiritual Formation

“Spiritual formation in the tradition of Jesus Christ is the process of transformation of the inmost dimension of the human being, the heart, which is the same as the spirit or will. It is being formed (really, transformed) in such a way that its natural expression comes to be the deeds of Christ done in the power of Christ.”
– Dallas Willard

In the Vineyard we have two focuses to help us in this transformation: Spiritual Direction and Soul Care.

Helping Others Through

Spiritual Direction

Spiritual Directors are ‘companions on the way’ for those who are seeking to intentionally grow, develop and deepen their relationship with God. Spiritual Directors seek to help listen to what the Father is saying to those they walk alongside.

Taking Care Of Yourself

Soul Care

The second focus for spiritual formation is the offer of a Soul Care Retreat Programme that takes Senior Pastors on a three year journey helping them both to rest and recuperate in God’s presence but also teaching the spiritual skills and disciplines that will help them as they return to their pastoral ministry.

The sessions at these retreats focus on experiencing God’s presence and listening for his invitation for connection. Worshiping as a community and finding intimacy with God in times of personal reflection refresh our souls and bodies.

Coaching, Spiritual Direction and Immanuel Prayer are offered to retreatants during their stay.
